This was mama bear on her first day on exhibit. One of the zookeepers referred to this as her "Glamour Shot".

This one was used for a 10 foot wide banner advertising the new name of the Conservation Society of California (formerly the East Bay Zoological Society). One banner placed by the entrance and another near the rides area.

This photo made it on to the cover of the Oakland Zoo's map

Celebrating their 1st birthday with birthday cake. Well, bear appropriate cake.
Meaning it is made mostly out of sweet potatoes.
Meaning it is made mostly out of sweet potatoes.

No 5 second rule for a bear! Even on the ground it is not going to go to waste.

The boys decided to explore the tree on their first day out in the exhibit. They, and mom, spend a considerable amount of time in the trees.

Do you suppose she climbs up this high just to get away from her three boys, even if only for a few minutes?

She reminds me of a Baseball Coach or Manager, watching the game from the dugout.
